There are many fractal generators, or software programs, to choose from if you are interested in creating your own fractal art. Listed below you will find an extensive list of over 35 Windows & MAC fractal programs. Each of these fractal programs are unique, with advantages and disadvantages, and often offer features which are unique to that individual program. Some of these fractal generators are free, others are shareware/trialware, where you can use them for a limited time, or with limited features available. I have given brief descriptions for these fractal programs, and also my 'take' for the ones that I have used.

Fractal eXtreme is a fractal exploration program that draws pictures of the Mandelbrot set and other fractals on your Windows PC (Windows XP, 32-bit Vista™, 64-bit Vista™, and other variants) and allows you to explore these fractals by zooming and panning towards interesting areas with your mouse or keyboard. The Mandelbrot set is itself similar in a non exact sense. The border of the Mandelbrot set is a fractal structure with not yet known fractal dimension. Implementation: Since the concept of Fractals involves the mathematical properties of equations, the algorithm and the programs that create fractals are difficult to write and optimize. The Mandelbrot Fractal. The mandelbrot set is a subset of the complex numbers. When visualized on the complex plane, it gives the familliar image often referred to as the 'gingerbread man'. The image to the right, is a direct plot of the mandelbrot set on the complex plane, black points are elements of the set, while white points are not.

• Mandelbrot Fractal Drawer in C. As an exercise to learn how OpenGL and image creation worked, as well as to satisfy a curiosity I've developed for Chaos Theory, I decided to create a mandelbrot fractal drawer in C, which can either draw to an OpenGL context or to a PNG image. I am a beginner at C, and would much appreciate any.
